About Maksat

I’m a PhD candidate at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, working in the LOVE-NEST group with Prof. Manuel Linares and Dr. Vittoria Vecchiotti. My research focuses on high-energy emission from spider pulsars (redbacks and black widows) using X-ray and gamma-ray space observatories. In other words, I’m an astro-arachnologist.

Previously, I studied mathematics and physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, while also working at the Space Research Institute. My bachelor’s and master’s theses focused on high-mass X-ray binaries and X-ray burster systems under the supervision of Dr. Ilya Mereminskiy.

I am particularly interested in extreme astrophysical objects that exhibit variability or periodic behavior. I especially enjoy timing analysis and working with observational data from these systems.

Outside of research, I have many hobbies that I’m not particularly good at. I enjoy films, playing the guitar, football (both watching and playing), chess, running, and cycling.

Feel free to email me at maksatsatybaldiev @ gmail.com to discuss science, the latest Champions League matches, or new movies.
