About Maksat

I’m a PhD candidate at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), working in the LOVE-NEST group with Prof. Manuel Linares and Dr. Vittoria Vecchiotti. My research focuses on high-energy emission from spider pulsars (redbacks and black widows) using X-ray and gamma-ray space observatories. In other words, I’m an astro-arachnologist.

I was born and raised in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, a beautiful country in Central Asia. After finishing high school, I moved to Moscow, where I studied mathematics and physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) while also working at the Space Research Institute (IKI). My bachelor’s and master’s theses, supervised by Dr. Ilya Mereminskiy, focused on high-mass X-ray binaries and X-ray bursters.

I am particularly interested in extreme astrophysical objects that exhibit variability or periodic behavior. I especially enjoy timing analysis and working with observational data from these systems.

Outside of research, I have many hobbies, none of which I’m particularly good at. I enjoy films, playing the guitar, football (both watching and playing), chess, running, and cycling.
